Pane e Vino

Just got back from "New Restaurant" girl date night with my dear friend Deanne. Since our beloved husbands tend to "ditch us" aka deploy or TDY a lot we like to catch up over food. For over a year now, Deanne has joined me on my quest to try all the fabulous restaurants in Charleston. Tonight we dined at Pane e Vino!! It's located downtown off King Street on Warren Street. Though we did not try the outside patio, they are known for their wonderful patio dining. For me it's still a little too hot for my Colorado blood to be outside. You would think that I would have acclimated to the hot, humid weather here by now...but no. Anyhow back to the good part, the food!! It was delizioso!

We started off our meal with their Bruschetta alla Sicilian. The tomatoes were so fresh and juicy. The hint of basil and saltiness from the olives were perfect and gave it great earthy flavors. Definitely one of the best bruschettas I have had here. Great way to start off our dinner. I then decided to go healthy for my entree and got the Penne alla Maremmana. Which is a large portion of penne in a cream sauce with spicy (not really that spicy) sausage and wild mushrooms topped off with more cheese. In mon avis, it just isn't my kind of Italian meal if you don't have plenty of cheese!! It was a great dish and even though it sounds heavy, I really did not find it to be too heavy. It was well balanced in favors and delightful. And to top the night off we shared some tiramisu. Such a sweet way to end.

Overall this place was a great date night with a friend or loved one. The food was fresh and balanced. Our server, though slow at first, was friendly and they took good care of us. They have a large menu with many different options and the food really did make you feel like someone had brought a piece of Italy to your mouth. I believe Pane e Vine stands apart from a lot of the other billions of Italian eateries because of the robust and full favors. It felt real and not something that was thrown together then put in a microwave. You can tell their staff cares about the food and guests.

If you have been here or ever get to go, I'd love to hear about what you ate and your review. Bon Appétit!
